As a multi-campus institution, UFPA has contributed to the development of all the mesoregions of the state of Pará and has given rise to three new federal universities, by breaking up its campuses in Santarém (UFOPA), Marabá (UNIFESSPA) and Macapá (UNIFAP), as well as contributing to the formation of the Federal University of Rondônia. There are currently twelve campuses in the municipalities of: Abaetetuba, Altamira, Ananindeua, Belém, Bragança, Breves, Cametá, Capanema, Castanhal, Salinópolis, Soure and Tucuruí.
With a staff of 2,997 teachers and 2,458 technicians, UFPA offers 154 undergraduate courses (face-to-face or distance learning) in 82 municipalities in Pará. It has a population of more than 50,000 students in undergraduate, postgraduate and basic, technical and technological education. It houses the School of Application, the School of Music and the School of Theater and Dance, as well as 2 University Hospitals, a veterinary hospital, various clinics and laboratories, a Theater, a Museum, an Art Gallery and numerous community services.
Through outreach, it interacts with a range of organizations and social groups, contributing directly to the transformation of the social reality of the Amazon, based on the knowledge produced in its environments. The stricto sensu postgraduate program, which began in 1973 with the creation of the Master's and Doctoral Programs in Geophysics, today has 55 doctoral programs and 100 master's programs, with enormous national and international recognition. In the lato sensu area, UFPA offers 28 Medical, Multiprofessional or Uniprofessional Residency courses, as well as Specialization courses. These courses serve a contingent of approximately 10,000 students.
